Mitchell suffered a heart attack while testing out a new houseboat he was building1 on Belle River near Pierre Part. Mitchell was born in 1964 and lived on Bayou Conway in Brittany with his brother Glenn his entire life. The Voodoo Bayou episode of the History Channel's Swamp People was dedicated to Mitchell's memory2. In its tribute, the History Channel wrote, "Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved."3

Glenn and Mitchell Guist will be making a public appearance at the Varsity Theatre (353 Highland Road Baton Rouge, LA 70802) Saturday, July 2. The night's events will include performances by local bands Glitchell, Octavious and No Fuego. Doors open at 9pm and the show starts at ten. Be sure to come out and meet your favorite characters of SWAMP PEOPLE.

Glenn and Mitchell made their season debut April 31 on Swamp People. They were well received as the world got a rare glimpse of what life is like on Conway Bayou. During their fishing expeditions on this episode of Swamp People, Glenn and Mitchell successfully caught a gar fish and showed us the ins-and-outs of making delectable "Gar Patties," a Guist Brothers specialty.
